PermitFlag is a Chrome browser extension that helps residential builders track permit status changes on Accela-powered municipal portals. This Privacy Policy explains what information PermitFlag accesses, how it is handled, and what rights you have.
1. Summary
The PermitFlag Chrome extension stores all data locally in your browser and does not transmit any permit data or personal information to external servers. There is no PermitFlag backend and no database. The permitflag.com website uses a lightweight analytics script to measure advertising effectiveness (see Section 3a below).
2. Data We Collect and Store
PermitFlag stores the following data exclusively in chrome.storage.local — your local Chrome profile on your device:
- Permit records: The permit number, status, expiration date, assigned inspector, and other fields read from Accela permit detail pages that you explicitly save to PermitFlag.
- Change history: A log of field-level changes detected when you run "Check All", including timestamps.
- User preferences: Your dashboard settings and display preferences.
This data never leaves your browser. It is not transmitted to PermitFlag, to any third party, or to any server.
3. Data We Do Not Collect
- We do not collect names, email addresses, or any personally identifiable information through the extension.
- The extension does not use analytics, tracking pixels, or telemetry.
- The extension does not share any data with third parties.
3a. Website Analytics
The permitflag.com website uses TinyAdz to measure advertising conversion. When you visit permitflag.com, the TinyAdz script transmits standard HTTP data — including your IP address, User-Agent, and Referrer — to TinyAdz servers for aggregate measurement such as page views and referral sources. TinyAdz uses this data to help us understand which ads bring visitors to our site. This tracking applies only to the permitflag.com website — the Chrome extension does not include any analytics or tracking.
4. Permissions Used by the Extension
PermitFlag requests the following Chrome permissions:
- activeTab / scripting: To read permit details from the Accela portal pages you visit, when you click the extension icon or trigger "Check All".
- storage: To save permit records and change history locally in
chrome.storage.local. - tabs: To open permit portal pages in background tabs during the "Check All" operation and close them after reading.
PermitFlag does not request access to your browsing history, bookmarks, downloads, or any data outside of the Accela permit portals you explicitly add.
5. Payment Processing
PermitFlag subscriptions are processed by ExtensionPay, which uses Stripe as its payment processor. When you subscribe, your payment information is collected and handled by ExtensionPay/Stripe — not by PermitFlag. Please review ExtensionPay's Privacy Policy and Stripe's Privacy Policy for details on how payment data is handled. PermitFlag receives only a subscription status indicator (active/inactive) — no payment card data is ever accessible to the extension.
6. Children's Privacy
PermitFlag is intended for use by construction professionals. We do not knowingly collect information from persons under 18 years of age.
7. Changes to This Policy
We will update this Privacy Policy as the product evolves. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects when changes were made. Continued use of PermitFlag after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
