Manual permit tracking is a full-time job

Accela portals don't send status notifications. You either open every portal by hand, or you miss changes. Most builders spend 60–90 minutes a day doing exactly that.

Without PermitFlag

  • Open 20–40 Accela portals every morning, one by one
  • 60–90 minutes of status-checking before real work starts
  • Permit reaches "Ready to Issue" — you don't notice for 3 days
  • Permit lapses, reinstatement fee: $20,500 vs. $8,200 original
  • No record of when a status actually changed

With PermitFlag

  • One dashboard. All permits. One "Check All" click.
  • 5 minutes to check every saved permit
  • Badge notification the moment status or expiration changes
  • Never miss a Ready to Issue window again
  • Timestamped change history for status and expiration date

The RTI failure mode costs builders $12,300 per incident

A permit reaches "Ready to Issue." The city emails no one. You don't check the portal for 3 days. The permit lapses. Reinstatement fee: $20,500 vs. the original $8,200. That's $12,300 because no one was watching. PermitFlag watches.

Sarah K.

Construction coordinator, residential developer

"Managing 30+ active permits across three cities. PermitFlag is the first tool that actually understands Accela and how builders work."

Your permit data never leaves your browser

PermitFlag stores everything in chrome.storage.local — your Chrome profile, your machine. No account required to start, no server, no syncing. PermitFlag reads the Accela pages you visit, the same as you do, just faster. We never transmit permit data to external servers.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about PermitFlag

Which permit portals does PermitFlag support?
PermitFlag works on Accela-powered permit portals — the most widely used platform in US municipalities. This covers 300+ cities and counties including major metros. If your city uses Accela (aca-prod.accela.com, CitizenAccess, or similar), PermitFlag works on it.
What exactly does "Check All" do?
Check All opens each of your saved permit URLs in a background browser tab, reads the permit status fields from the Accela page, then closes the tab. It checks status, expiration date, applicant, project address, permit type, and description. Any changes compared to the last check are flagged and logged. No data leaves your browser.
Does PermitFlag send me email notifications?
Not currently. PermitFlag shows a badge count on the extension icon when permits have changed since your last review. You see the changes when you open the popup. Email notifications are planned for a future release.
Is my permit data secure?
Yes. All permit data is stored exclusively in chrome.storage.local — your local Chrome profile on your machine. PermitFlag has no server, no database, and does not transmit permit data anywhere. The extension reads Accela pages you visit, the same as you would manually.
What happens after the 14-day trial?
When the trial ends, PermitFlag stops running Check All until you upgrade to a Pro subscription at $19/month or $149/year. Payment is processed through ExtensionPay (powered by Stripe). Your saved permits and change history remain stored locally in your browser — nothing is deleted.
Can I use PermitFlag on multiple computers?
PermitFlag data is stored locally in your Chrome profile. If you use Chrome Sync, your extension settings may sync, but permit records are stored locally and won't automatically appear on other machines. Multi-device sync is a planned feature.
